Take the poetic ramble through the years, the miles, and the relationships that have given shape to The Rag Taggle Gypsy. There is plenty of light-hearted whimsy for soulful uplift. There is also plenty of gravity to keep the reader grounded. This volume has the occasional (and seemingly obligatory) sappiness associated with poetry volumes, but it has the ability to laugh at itself just when the reader finds the sap getting too sticky. Every poem in this book has been through years of editing, with plenty of scratch marks to show for it. You need, as the title poem states, “carry no more than you can in one load, and drink just to taste, not to tipsy.” Come see what I’ve seen on the wide open road. Take a walk with The Rag Taggle Gypsy!

David E. Mugg has been writing poetry since he was in elementary school. Fortunately, very few of those manuscripts survive to this day. His love for poetry began with such epics as Dr. Seuss’ Green Eggs and Ham and various Mother Goose nursery rhymes, and has continued to develop over the years. He loves good poetry, wherever it may be found, and has been striving to add his own to the collection, which brought about this volume. His poetic inspirations include Rudyard Kipling and A.E. Housman, among many others. He participates in a regular poetry read-around in Boone, NC, where he has won many (highly localized) awards. He has also written a devotional study guide on Genesis entitled Genesis is God-Breathed and Useful. After retiring from a 21 year Army career, David now lives with his wife and two sons in Huntersville, NC.
